FAQ

Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) uses short-wavelength ultraviolet (ultraviolet C or UV-C) light to kill or inactivate microorganisms by destroying nucleic acids and disrupting their DNA, leaving them unable to perform vital cellular functions. UV-C light kills the virus and also stops the viral/bacterial reproduction.

The no-touch UVSheltron products are quick, easy to use and effective in decontaminating large or small surface areas and rooms, with zero exposure to chemical toxins. UVSheltron decontamination prevents the transmission of pathogenic microorganisms.
UVSheltron offers several products depending on your requirements. Our products are effective for materials, objects and surface decontamination.

The time taken by UVGI to effectively kill all the microorganisms is proportional to the UV-C intensity, distance, and surface area of the targets, as well as the nature of the pathogenic microorganisms. Each UVSheltron user manual illustrates the instructions for usage.

Yes. UV-C will decontaminate the exterior surfaces of any item, including keyboards, phones, laptops, etc. without harm to internal components.

UVSheltron emits short wave UV-C to decontaminate objects. Prolonged or intense UV-C exposure may degrade some materials and plastics. It may also fade colors and alter the surface of some textile materials. Plants, leafy vegetables and some food items can be adversely affected by direct exposure to short wave ultraviolet radiation and should be removed or covered before use.

Prolonged, direct exposure to UV-C light can cause blinding, skin damage and melanoma. Precautions must be taken to avoid direct UV exposure.
UVSheltron units are equipped with sensor devices that turn off when someone enters the room. They also come equipped with emergency stop buttons and remote-control units.

Depending on the amount of usage, the lamps should last about a year. However, if the units are used continuously, lamps may need to be replaced more often. UV lamps should be treated the same as fluorescent lamps and disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal guidelines. Please refer to the instructions supplied with each UVSheltron product.
