UVSheltron’s Pure Air products extend the shelf-life of FF&V during storage and transportation.  The Pure Air devices utilize ultraviolet light and a Titanium Dioxide (TIO2) catalyst to create Photocatalytic Oxidation (PCO) that breaks up ethylene as they purify the air. Ethylene is the colorless gas that causes FF&V to ripen and rot.  The effectiveness of the PCO technology has been documented in the June 2019 “Trends of Food Science & Technology” study entitled “Recent advances in detecting and regulating ethylene concentrations for shelf-life extension and maturity control of fruit.”  The study confirmed that photocatalysis with TiO2 is an exciting technology that can extend the shelf life of fruits and vegetables and thereby strengthen the supply chain.  UVSheltron’s Pure Air devices have been individually tested for efficacy by the Public Health Agency of Canada and Wake Forest University.
